VoIP helps firms boost remote working options

With modern technology playing a greater role in business across the globe, recruiting expert Hays said that remote working would lead to greater employee satisfaction.

According to the latest Hays Journal, more businesses than ever are encouraging their employees to work away from the office to boost productivity, cut costs and improve workers' motivation by improving their work/life balance.

Marc Burrage, the company's regional director in Hong Kong, said: "Rapid advances in technology such as phone and video conferencing, smartphones and tablets are taking people out of the office and allowing them to work almost anywhere, any time."

The flexibility and scalability of voice over internet protocol (VoIP) technology is helping businesses to make the transition from traditional nine-to-five offices to working around the clock.

"As a result, the nature of employment is evolving fast, changing how jobs are structured and executed. Modern technology allows employees to liaise with colleagues and clients from home, at customers' offices or further afield in business centres or internet cafes, using the latest mobile tools," he concluded.
