The future is bright, the future is VoIP

The future is bright, the future is VoIP

As more and more businesses look to ways of saving money, some are turning to voice over internet protocol (VoIP) technology, so much so that one expert has claimed the service is the future.

Trefor Davies, council member of the Internet Telephony Service Providers' Association (ITSPA), said that VoIP is going to become "increasingly present" in everyone's everyday communications.

"The future for the industry is bright, in the B2B (business to business) area it is booming," he explained.

VoIP offers businesses a range of benefits, including cost savings, improved efficiency and greater productivity as it makes communication much easier between staff, particularly those using mobile devices away from the workplace.

Mr Davies also pointed out that the technology may not necessarily become popular in the consumer space, as it will not be used in a straightforward replacement of analogue lines.

ITSPA aims to promote competition and self-regulation in order to encourage the development of a flourishing and innovative VoIP.
