Spending on hosted telephony set to grow in US

The amount of money businesses are spending on hosted telephony services is set to grow in the US, according to a new report.

Findings from T3i Group's InfoTrack found that spending on IP telephony and unified communications will grow at an average of ten per cent per year.

Between 2011 and 2016, the firm believes that hosted IPT spending by large businesses is expected to nearly triple.
Large companies with 500 or more employees are forecast to increase spending during the five-year period at a rate of 27 per cent.

InfoTrack senior program director Ken Dolsky said that last year small businesses represented 46 per cent of installed base of IPT lines in the US, but made up just 30 per cent of unified communications spending.

"But over the next five years, the growth of SMB spending on UC apps will be more than twice the rate of US enterprises, which represents the mirror image of what we project happening in the Hosted IPT sector," he concluded.
