Businesses set to benefit from FTTC

Businesses in the UK are benefitting greatly from fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) technology, with more expected to reap the rewards as the technology grows.

Andrew Ferguson, editor of news site Thinkbroadband.com, explained that there are many advantages of the hi-tech solution, including a download speed of up to 80 Mbps.

"Business stands to gain the most from the better upstream, as you can now, at low cost, support more home workers, who use a VPN to provide a secure link to the office," he added.

Collaboration will become easier at firms with more than one site, as the expert noted that companies will be able to afford to leave a Skype chat running all the time, boosting idea sharing and increasing a feeling of inclusion for mobile workers.

Money savings can also be made through FTTC as businesses can downgrade an existing Ethernet line for critical tasks and utilise FTTC for everyday things.
