Mobile options providing more options for accepting payments

Businesses are able to make use mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, to accept payments from consumers on a more regular basis.

Richard Bradley, company director at, explained that technology is developing all the time and there are now "quite a few options" in the mobile payment field.

He said that one of the major hurdles to overcome is that consumers and businesses need to get used to these new methods, moving away from the chip and pin system.

"What we're seeing is a lot of businesses are encouraged to have a chip and pin or card machine, but what might be better suited is a virtual terminal that sits on their computer in the office," Mr Bradley noted.

He added that every different merchant will have a preferred way of doing things, and they need to choose the right payment solution that suits their business needs.

A number of applications have been developed for mobile payment, while peripherals such as card readers are also available for the iPhone.
