BYOD continuing to grow

The trend of allowing employees to use their own mobile devices for work purposes, known as BYOD, is continuing to grow, according to the latest survey by MokaFive.

As part of the survey, MokaFive asked participants seven questions about the rise of BYOD and its future within business.

Results indicated that the vast majority of firms are currently embracing the trend, with 88 per cent of respondents stating that their company had some form of BYOD in place.

Two-thirds of respondents said that they or their business were using a service such as Dropbox to store data.

Craig Mathias, principal analyst with Farpoint Group, said: "BYOD is one of the most important directions in enterprise IT, with enormous potential benefits in productivity and cost savings."

However, he noted that there are a host of measures that need to be put in place for businesses looking to embrace the trend.

"There are major requirements in consciousness-raising, policy definition and enforcement, and end-to-end solutions that include not just devices, but the enterprise data they increasingly contain," he concluded.
