Sony Ericsson X10 – Android 2.1 Update Now Available

Sony Ericsson have launched an update to the Xperia X10 range of mobile phones (X10, x10 Mini & X10 Mini Pro). Currently running Android 1.6 with SE customisations (Timescape, MediaScape and Moxier mail) the devices will shortly be capable of being upgraded to Android 2.1 which will enable a wide range of the following features:

  • Increased number of home screens from 3 to 5.
  • Improved Phonebook integration with social networks.
  • Live wallpapers – X10 only.
  • Bluetooth functionality pre-loaded for X10 Mini & Mini Pro.
  • Voice control for your handset
  • Maintains Moxier Email Sync – but Sync credentials will have to be manually re-added at the end of the upgrade process
  • Wide Range of bug-fixes and other enhancements

Individual handsets will receive notifications when the update is available (see photo), but given the large size and nature of the update this can only be achieved by connecting the handset via USB cable to a PC and downloading the update from the internet. Don’t worry about remembering where you put that CD – nowadays when you connect an X10 device it will automatically install the PC Companion software and prompt you through the upgrade process.

If you need help or assistance with this process or have a fleet of phones to upgrade then please donot hesitate to contact the Arrow Tech Team on 0330 440 4444.
