Workers use 3.5 devices for work purposes

The speed at which technology is developing has led to a rapid increase in the number of mobile devices being used for everyday work functions in the UK.

According to the latest iPass Mobile Workforce Report, smartphones and tablet computers are beginning to make up the ground on laptops, when it comes to the most popular work device.

The number of tablet users doubled from 27 per cent in 2011 to 54 per cent by the first quarter of 2012.

Almost half of all the workers surveyed as part of the report, said if they could only choose one mobile device it would be their smartphone.

However, it seems there is not one mobile device that rules as the average mobile employee now uses 3.5 devices for work purposes, up from 2.7 in 2011, with many carrying a laptop, a smartphone and a tablet.
