Ten-inch Blackberry PlayBook in the pipeline

Research In Motion (RIM) is set to reinvigorate its tablet offering with a larger BlackBerry PlayBook, which is expected to have a ten-inch display.

According to leaked images, RIM is set to take on Apple and its iPad in the market, although its design mirrors the original PlayBook, with a glass front and a rubberised back.

RIM has already confirmed that it will launch a 4G LTE version of the original PlayBook before the end of the year, and according to a leaked roadmap, a larger tablet is pegged for arrival in the middle of next year – codenamed Blackforest.

The images appear to be a prototype of the Blackforest tablet, which is expected to boast the new BB10 operating system, although the shots do not show a switched on tablet.

There are currently few details about the tablet, but it is expected to become an integral part of the recovery of BlackBerry after a bad spell from the manufacturer.
