Samsung starts rollout of Ice Cream Sandwich to Galaxy S2 owners

Galaxy S2 users will soon be able to experience Ice Cream Sandwich on their smartphone after Samsung started rolling out the latest Android operating system.

A message on the firm's corporate Twitter account said that Poland, Hungary, Sweden and South Korea will be the first countries to receive the update, with other markets following suit.

The new features of Ice Cream Sandwich, which will also run on Android tablets and other smartphones, include home screen folders and a favourites tray, resizable widgets and improved spell-checking facilities.

Furthermore, users will be able to access their device through Face Unlock, which uses the S2's front-facing camera to recognise who is trying to operate the smartphone.

Improvements have also been made to the S2's email platform, browser experience and control over network data for streaming and synchronising data.

Ice Cream Sandwich was originally released five months ago, with S2 users having to wait for their chance to use the operating system.
