RIM planning new contact manager feature for BB10 devices

Research In Motion (RIM) is planning to provide BlackBerry users the opportunity to tap into their business contacts' public profiles.

The feature will allow BlackBerry users to access blog posts, tweets, emails and other details as it pulls in information from social media and other websites.

RIM revealed that the next generation of smartphones in the range will boast the feature, which is expected to launch early next year.

T A McCann, who is spearheading the development of the contacts and BlackBerry Messenger applications for the new platform, said that the launch of the BB10 operating system will add to the firm's "heritage of productivity".

He revealed that the built-in contacts app on BB10 will aggregate all contact information, status updates and meetings for a contact in one place.

It is also expected to pull current status updates from contacts on Facebook, Twitter and other places giving users a wealth of up-to-date information on their contacts.
