Microsoft Office may come to iPads and Android this year

Microsoft is reported to be considering allowing its Office Suite to feature on the Apple iPad and a range of Android tablets.

Currently the productivity suite is only available on Windows Phone and Symbian devices, but it could be making the move to new operating systems in the near future.

Rumours surrounding the plans have been circulating for a number of months, but it seems the speculation could come to an end as early as November.

Various sources have claim to have seen Microsoft Office running Word, Excel and PowerPoint on an iPad, however Microsoft has denied the rumour.

A November release timeframe for Office on iOS and Android, as Boy Genius Report suggested, would see the software launched around the time that Microsoft's new operating system is due for release.

Many believe that Microsoft could make the Office Suite available in a bid to tap into the lucrative apps market for business applications.

It will also come when the tech giant is set to launch the highly-anticipated Windows 8 tablet.
