HTC gives 16 handsets Ice Cream Sandwich

HTC has begun updating its handsets with the next Android operating system, 4.0, which is also known as Ice Cream Sandwich.

However, according to the manufacturer, just 16 of its smartphones are in line for the update, including the Droid Incredible 2, the Desire S and Desire HD, two EVO phones and four of its Sensation range.

The Flyer and the Desire Z have missed out on the update this time round, but HTC has promised to continue negotiations to get Ice Cream Sandwich on other phones.

HTC's global community manager, Darren Krape, said that more information will be released in the near future, but noted that the updates are subject to carriers in each location.

"We are working closely with our carrier partners to nail down update schedules for our other smartphones and will have more to share very soon," he added.

Rumours already suggest that Google has made improvement to Ice Cream Sandwich, in the shape of its Jelly Bean and Key Lime Pie updates.
