European MDM market to see increased growth

Mobile device management (MDM) has become an increasingly important part of a company's infrastructure and recent figures show the market for such technology is set to see substantial growth over the next few years.

The number of employees in Europe using their own devices in the workplace has dramatically increased in recent years, with the adoption of smartphones and tablets increasing steadily.

That has created a growing demand for MDM platforms, with many companies all too aware of the security threats that could otherwise arise.

The growing mobile culture in Europe has been cited in a new report by MicroMarket Monitor as one of the key reasons why the MDM market is expected to grow by 26.8 per cent between now and 2019.

In many of those cases, MDM solutions are usually put in place to ensure that security policies protect corporate data and sensitive information from the prying eyes of criminals.

It is also important for these applications to have a minimal effect on the experience of employees, many of whom are increasingly introducing their own devices into the systems of companies across a wide range of industries.

It means that the importance of creating a successful bring your own device (BYOD) policy has never been greater for companies.

That has arguably been the key drive in the adoption of MDM applications and with BYOD being a trend that shows little sign of going away any time soon, it could be even greater still.

Not only will there be more MDM applications, but they will also be far more sophisticated.

The rise of wearable tech for instance, will present a fresh challenge for many IT departments, many of which will have to ensure they are prepared so they can guard against any potential threats.
