Apple releases details of new iPhone and iPad models

The wait was finally put to an end before the weekend as Apple lovers across the UK were given their first glimpse of the new iPhone and iPad models.

The new iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S+ are both poised for a September 25th release, boasting a number of new features, including a new faster A9 processor chip, an upgraded 12 megapixel camera and an updated version of the company's iOS 9 operating system.

Other specs include a 4K video capabilities and 3D touch, which is capable of determining how deeply the user presses the display and offering a host of different actions accordingly.

Available with three sizes – 16GB, 64GB and 128GB – Apple's latest incarnation of its best-selling smartphone is manufactured from 7000 series aluminium and, it claims, the most durable glass of any other handset.

Customers will also get to choose from a new Rose Gold colour, along with Space Grey, Silver and Gold.

Meanwhile, Apple's new iPad Pro, the latest installment in the company's hugely popular series of tablet devices, is to feature a new form factor size of 12.9 inches (around 78 per cent larger than the iPad 2) along with the most advanced retina display to have been released by the company .

Other features for the device, which is primed for a November release, include a four-speaker audio system, as well compatibility with the new Apple Pencil and Apple Smart Keyboard.

The cellular-only model will boast 128GB storage, while Wi-Fi variants will be available in 32GB and 64GB. All of which are available in three colours; Space Grey, Silver, and Gold and clock in with a thickness of 6.9mm.

Minimal thickness is a central design feature of the new iPad Mini 4, which at 6.1mm is around 18 per cent thinner than the iPad Mini 3.

Yet this model still manages to pack a reasonable punch, containing an A8 processor chip and an upgraded 8 megapixel camera, as well as Apple's updated iOS 9.

Again, the Mini 4 will be available in Space Grey, Silver and Gold, and three sizes; 16GB, 64GB, 128GB.

While the release of new hardware is sure to excite many Apple fans, the company has also continued its efforts in its Apple TV offering, with the fourth generation of the service set to be released in October, boasting Siri-enabled voice commands, touch-controlled remote and a simplified navigation interface.
