Companies to utilise BYOD and cloud in move away from desktops

More and more businesses in the UK and around the world are gradually making the move away from the traditional desk-based job and desktop PCs.

Tablet computers and smartphones are playing an important role in this as employees expect to use their own devices for work-related purposes.

Michael Thorne, product director for Pearlfinders.com, said that the next six to 12 months will shape the extent to which organisations embrace mobile working and devices.

"I think with BYOD (bring your own device), the ability to access emails and work remotely and on the move will mean that perhaps people will not need to be at their desk as much," he explained.

With more people working outside of the office and spending greater periods of time away from their desks, access to documents is crucial.

This is where cloud technologies come into the equation, allowing staff to continue working on the move in a safe and secure manner.
