Can Google really match the likes of RIM, Good Technology and Excitor when it comes to mobile device management?

Google has announced that it will now include mobile device management (MDM) in its Apps for Business service. Free MDM via the Cloud sounds like a great idea but we don’t yet know what Google really means, for example, will administrators be able to remote wipe devices and can users keep their work and personal data separate?

As the MDM bandwagon picks up more passengers – IBM announced their version of MDM recently too – the true definition of mobile device management becomes more blurred.
